With all of its options, the Carl Martin Classic Optical Envelope is a unique pedal that may appear a little overwhelming at first. Actually, using it is fairly easy. The drive control sets the sensitivity, the tone control allows you to manipulate the higher frequencies, and the Q knob lets you change the bandwidth. When the wah is set to a lower value, the tone is wider and less aggressive; by raising this value, an immediate and aggressive sound can be produced. There is a switch that allows you to choose between three presets and the high pass and band pass filters, as well as a volume control that allows you to maintain the signal in line with the amplifier's output.
